Raymond ‘Race Car Ray’ E. Capouch, 69 of Temperance, MI, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio. Born January 26, 1944 in Evergreen, IL, he was the son of Edward and Libbie (Kuchar) Capouch. Later his parents moved to Berwyn, Illinois. Ray attended Proviso East High School for 2 years, later he went to Howell Military School in Indiana where he graduated and enlisted in the Marine Corp. Ray served 4 years during the Vietnam Campaign. In 1970 he married Lillian Belli. He worked at Stanadyne Corp. for several years before attending Washburn School. After graduatation he was hired by AMC and was later transferred to Jeep Toledo. Ray retired from Jeep Toledo in 2001. Ray was an avid patriot and joined the American Legion Post 514 in Ida Michigan. There he was Post commander and 2nd district Commander. He was also involved in the 40 & 8 of Monroe County, Michigan, Voiture 1153 and the VFW, Post 9656, Lambertville where he became Quartermaster. Ray was also involved in the American Legion Post 514 Flag Ceremonial Team and served as a member of the burial team for the VFW Post 9656. Ray loved NHRA drag racing and owned his own race car.

Ray is preceded in death by his father, mother and brother-in-law. He is survived by his loving wife, Lillian. Sister Roberta Stolz. Nieces Roxanne Stolz and Linda (Rick) Hackley. Nephews James (Roberta) Stolz and Richard Stolz.

Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where the VFW Post 9656, Lambertville and American Legion, Post 514, Ida will perform services Tuesday at 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Bedford Memorial Gardens with military honors by the VFW, Post 9656, Lambertville and AMerican Legion 514, Ida.. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
